Sugar Shack

In honor of National Donut Day I decided to challenge myself with recreating the Sugar Shack Logo/Trade Mark.

This was actually a great deal of fun. I decided that I would use my old friend Power Point because it has most of the functions required to create graphic art, at least at my extreme novice level. The biggest challenges that I had in doing this project were:

  1. Learning how to get to the drawing tools in Power Point
  2. Understanding how text effects could be manipulated
  3. Working thru the issue of fonts and character spacing

I think  my effort holds true to Sugar Shacks original design.

  • This reminds me of a logo I recreated on my blog! I combined Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts logos as part of a design assignment. I also used Powerpoint for that assignment, and I agree that it is the easiest to use for novices (like me), especially for simpler designs. For choosing a font, did you just click through ones you thought would match? That’s what I have been doing and it can take a while!

    • Hi Jenna,
      Thanks for the comment.
You are right, I did a bit of font hunting to find something that worked. I’m really hooked on using PowerPoint…it seems to be the easiest to manipulate on the fly.
